| After years of running around town, and hitting shows in Daytona and beyond in his 'Vette, Rod was faced with the need for more room to haul the family on adventures, and thus, a new family project was born. I was fortunate to have gotten a call from Rod to whip up some ideas and a rendering for the car, and it was an honor to not only get to create some art, but to have made a great friend in the process. Some hilarious phone conversations and emails (OK, and a cross-country move) later, and we had hit on a great vision for the car. The body will have the requisite shave, smoothed and tucked bumpers, the peak removed from the hood center, custom side trim, and Harley Davidson headlamps fore, and a remotely-operated tail light/fuel door on the aft end, and receive a silky smooth skin of House of Kolor Kandy Slime Green. A smoothed firewall (with relocated wiper motor and master cylinder) resides behind the fuel injected 502 ci engine, which has been smoothed, and will be color-matched to the body, and will transmit power through a 700-R4 transmission to the narrowed, polished and color-matched C-4 rear differential and suspension. Holding the goodies in place is a completely smoothed chassis with a tubular K-member, riding on Air Ride Technologies Shockwaves, and polished stainless upper and lower control arms. Wilwood 13-inch drilled, slotted and zinc-coated discs with polished calipers hang from 2" dropped spindles, and provide "whoa" power behind Budnik 18x7 front and 20x10 rear wheels. Inside, caramel leather and ostrich accents, a hand-crafted, full-length console splitting the four bucket seats, a tapestry headliner, and a smoothed and modified dash, which will house controls for the Vintage Air, and the DVD-equipped sound system with front and rear monitors, should the scenery blurring past outside not prove exciting enough. |
